IMAZ Day 57: Swimming

I like to try and start off my weeks with a long swim of some sort, both because it makes recovering from all the biking and running over the weekend easier and because it gives me a bit of a leg up on the rest of the week's swims in case of travel or time slippage. So today, I was aiming for a 4000yd day but didn't know what to do. I decided on the ever-popular 40x100 workout with a small twist: the first 20 would have 20 seconds rest, the next 10 would have 15 and the final 10 would have 10. I was less concerned about the pace than with feeling steady and consistent, but I did want them all to be the mid-to-high 1:20s. Mission accomplished -- I averaged 1:26/1:27 for the entire set and felt quite good throughout. After the swim, I did a 30 minute run, and it took my legs 5-6 minutes to loosen a bit from yesterday. Wasn't too bad, though. Bike later today.
