Bush Curses Hezbollah, but Miss Manners is More Offended

Having done my share of public speaking, I know that there are a few really basic rules that can help one to avoid ticklish situations when at the podium...or at the lunch table that happens to have a LIVE MICROPHONE ON IT:
- make sure the mic isn't on before saying something better kept private...like telling the Hezbollah to "...stop that s***" when you're having a personal chat with Tony Blair.
- don't have a personal chat with Tony Blair when your mouth is full or you are otherwise engaged in engorging yourself with lunch.

Now, one might expect the White House to spin this as an intentional faux pas by our President, letting slip a "true, personal feeling" on purpose while making it look like it was a mistake. However, much less excusable are Mr. Bush's deplorable table manners. I know, I know, it's tough to get people not to talk and chew at the same time -- I have two kids, and it's a continual challenge with them -- but certainly the State Department or White House Chief of Staff would be able to help our nation's leader understand how to "say it, not spray it."
