IMAZ Day 43: Tired

OK, so maybe the century (and preceding/following days) took its toll. Today, I intended a 2 hour bike ride early in the morning and did do 1:50 (ran out of time) for 31 miles, 17 mph. It was OK, but I felt the hills and definitely had to make an effort to exceed (sometimes get to) 20 mph. The good news was that despite feeling a bit tired on hills (including the dreaded Palmer Hill Road in Old Greenwich), I was able to spin up them fairly evenly in the small ring. Minor positive, but what the heck.

This afternoon, I wanted to run an hour and figured today was a good day to test out the tempo run legs. I mean, I was already a bit tired, so why not check out how well I'd be able to do under those conditions? So my goal was to try and run 6:30s for a 6-miler on the track. I was on a dirt track which acts just like a trail in terms of comfort, though it does have a slight hill in it. Success! I ran 38:45 negatively (19:32-19:13) feeling strong right through the end (timed every 1200M and dropped the pace each one after the halfway mark). I jogged back slowly but was OK. I'd also warmed up 14 minutes on grass, mostly, prior.

All in all, a good day. My stomach was a bit off for the run but it didn't hamper the performance. I'm very positive about my condition as a result.
